CHAMPIONSHIPS
The
Frank K. Berry 2007 U.S. Championships,
a 9-Round invitation only Swiss System was held May 15 to 23, 2007,
in
Stillwater,
Oklahoma.
GM Alexander Shabalov took clear first place with a score of 7 out
of 9 points.
GM Shabalov's only loss was in Round Six to GM Alex Onischuk who
attained sole 2nd place.

2008 Frank K. Berry U.S. Chess Championship
GM Yury Shulman has won the US Championship, scoring 7
points in the 9 round tournament. IM Anna Zatonskih claimed the
US Women's Championship title after a series of rapid and blitz
games against IM Irina Krush, culminating in an Armaggedon
match.
Both the Men's and Women's 2008 U.S. chess champion
was decided in Tulsa, Oklahoma from May 13 through 21. The
Men's tournament was a 9-round Swiss System event with 24
contenders, including 12 of the top 18 rated players in the
U.S., defending Champion GM Alex Shabalov and 13 other
grandmasters.
The Women's tournament, a 10-player round robin, included
defending Women's Champion, Irina Krush, plus six other players
from the top 10 list.
